SATELLITE INSTRUMENT ISS Astronaut Photography Since 2000, astronauts on the ISS have regularly taken photos of the Earth surface, during both day and nighttime, with different digital cameras. More than 7 million photos were taken, of which about 138 thousand with low cloud cover and all relavant metadata registered. Of such subset, about 21 thousand images were acquired during nighttime.
